Chinese Baby Lions pen and color pencil on paper 23cm x 19.5cm This shows a Chinese decorative stone that families put at the doors of their houses. I have seen many of these when walking in the Beijing hutongs, where traditional courtyards are the most abundant. As a child who visited many courtyards, I have always marveled at the carvings. The background is blurry because these stones are my childhood memories, but the carving is detailed as it shows how I have seen so many that these images are ingrained in my mind. I wanted to capture its beauty. Lao zhu 871. “Probe into the pattern of door pier (door pier series-3).” June 2017. Sina Blog, blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_3f918c350102wu4i.html. Accessed 16 Dec. 2019. |
