Blue and Red Headwrap watercolor on watercolor paper 23cm x 19.5cm I painted this piece to preserve Cambodian history. The old lady is my relative who lived in Cambodia and has experienced the horrors of the wars that have occurred there. Each wrinkle shows a difficulty she has faced, and over time they have accumulated. Although her eyes are dark from seeing the destruction the Communist Party of Kampuchea has brought to the country, they still shine with hope. The grey skin shows how she is aging and slowly fading away, as the color fades away from her skin. |
